Project Details

North American Traditional Indigenous Food Systems (NATIFS) is a nonprofit organization founded by Chef Sean Sherman that is “dedicated to addressing the economic and health crises affecting Native communities by re-establishing Native foodways.” Through its work, NATIFS is not only bringing more Indigenous foods to the broader Twin Cities community, but is also supporting Indigenous entrepreneurs and working to integrate native foods into tribal communities across the country. One way NATIFS is activating on its mission is through The Indigenous Food Lab Market, a kitchen and retail space offering high-quality Indigenous foods and products within the Midtown Global Market in Minneapolis. Flannery Construction renovated the space to include custom cabinetry and displays to launch the Indigenous Food Lab Market’s cafe and retail space.
