Project Details

Pillsbury Creative Commons (PCC) is the new name of an expanded community arts and economic development hub in South Minneapolis. Built with a focus on wellness, artistic expression and sustainability, the building includes workforce training and artist residence space, a transformed KRSM community radio station and flexible spaces for artistic, education and administrative use in the community. Flannery Construction installed a green roof to manage rainwater, reduce heat and buffer sound in the building. Three street-facing broadcast and recording studios were built to offer connection to passersby on Chicago Avenue, and constructed of double walls with space between to mitigate sound transfer. The Flannery team worked within the confines of the project budget and the challenging site conditions to bring the bold vision of Pillsbury United Communities to life — meeting the deadline of its annual Block Party for a Grand Opening event.
